A First Communion Card

Hello crafty friends!  Today I wanted to share a card I made for a first communion... I love the simplicity of it!

I used a  shiny silver card stock for the background and the cross.  I added dimension to the cross by using pop dots and making a white cross 1/2" larger than the silver cross.  The cross comes from the Easter Cartridge.  The ribbon comes from my stash and matched perfectly.  I then added some I-Rock gems in silver to add some elegance to the cross.  The corners were decorated by using Creative Memories Corner Punch.

Thank you for looking and have a fantastic day!

Mother's Day Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to our Mother's Day blog hop!  I'm am soooo excited to be participating in my first blog hop ever!!!  Thank you so much to Jamie for putting all of this together!  If you came here from Tiffany at http://sparkledmemories.blogspot.com/ then you are in the right place. If not start at the beginning at Jamie's blog for all the wonderful projects lined up for you today.

For this blog hop I wanted to make some fun Mother's Day Decorations that can be on display for more than just the day.  It is amazing what you can do with paper and I had so much fun racking my brain to come up with these two different decorations...

This first one is for my Mom who loves pinwheels!  As soon as I saw someone make their own pinwheels out of paper on youtube I knew I had to try it... lucky for me when I was looking through my cartridges I came across a pinwheel cut out on the Mother's Day Cartridge, how perfect is that?

I used only 8 sheets of Colorbok paper (2 per color ) for both projects, and still have some left!  I wanted to keep it all color corresponding, plus it means that I didn't have as much waste at the end of it all. I'm also happy to report that the containers used for these projects were re-purposed to fit my needs, woo-hoo go recycling!!!hehehe. The banner for the pinwheel container was made using the Mother's Day Cartridge as well, while the lettering came from the Storybook Cartridge.  The ribbon used to connect the banner was from my stash.  The beautiful flower cut out on this container was also made using the Storybook Cartridge.

I used cooking sticks ( usually used when making cake pops or cookies on a stick ) that I wrapped around with silver sparkly pipe cleaners and also thread through the pinwheels themselves.  Another cool fact that I'd like to point out is that the pinwheels actually work when you blow on them!!!  To five my pinwheels that "wow factor" I used pink stickles!  You can also find small dots of white stickles on the end of each banner flag as a quick way to make faux pearls.

Now onto project #2:
This decoration is for my Mother-In-Law whom I thought this would be perfect for her to display in her scrapbooking room...

This is a view of the back.

I started out by making two of these "flower balls" as you can see up above, by cutting flowers out from the Create a Critter at 3 different sizes.  I then spritzed them with Perfect Pearls Mists, perfect pearl by Ranger, and let them dry.  They were attached to a small Styrofoam ball by using very thin dressmaker pins with clear white pins threaded through at the ends.  I then attached the balls to green floral wire at the bottom, that I twisted over twice for extra support, and pushed through the Styrofoam that was placed inside the little container.  I matted the picture with plain white paper and added "leaves" to the top to tie in with the flower balls.  I used the flower balls as picture frame holders of sort and through some extra flowers in the back and front to tie it all in.  I then added some pearls ( found in the dollar bin at Joann's ) around the outside of the container for some added sophistication, and there you have it!  Whew!

Thank you so very very much for taking the time to look at my creations! I hope these ideas have inspired you to get your paper crafting on and ways to celebrate your Mom or special someone too!
Now you are to hop over to the wonderful Meighen, whom I'm already a huge fan of and I know you will be too! Here is the line up in case you get lost along the way!

What's up Chicky? The answer: More Challenges!!!

Hello everyone!  I know it's been a few days since I've posted, but it's been a busy week in our house, so I'm back! Woo hoo!  Here's a little Chicky Card set for your enjoyment today:

All of the stamps used for these cards came from one set that I received in a follower giveaway, love it!  The front of the cards were stamped in tuxedo black and water colored in with Memento inks.  I added stickels to the top of the eggs.  I ran a strip of P.K. Glitz double sided tap across the front of the cards and topped it with Martha Stewart glitter in yellow.  I added flowers from my stash and attached them with glue dots, the centers of the flowers were then "blinged" with gems and my I-Rock tool.  It's hard to see in the last picture, but the little chickis poped up with pop-dots and then covered in glaze.

These cards are being entered into these awesome challenges:  ( Please go look at the other entries too! )

A Little Note for Spring...

Hello everyone!  I'm back with my second post of the day, a little spring card I made.  And shhhhh, don't tell but it's cricutless!!! I know, crazy right? hehehe!  Enjoy!

I made this card with two different dollar stamps!  You have to love those bins at JoAnn's and Michaels!  Anywho I used DCVW paper for the background and gray cardstock to stamp onto in Memories Tuxedo Black Ink.  The flower stamp is double backgrounded with two tiers of gray paper, the first one is distressed with blue Stampin' Up Ink pad.  I used my watercolor pencils to color in the flowers and added drops of "dew" on the petals using my glossy accent.  I then added bling to the center of the flowers and down by the sentiment with my I-Rock tool and gems.  I also used a white ribbon to go across the center and tied a little bow adhering it with glue dots.  The corners of the card were done using a decorative Creative Memories Corner Punch.

I'm entering this into the following challenges... make sure to stop by their pages for more inspiration!!!
My Craft Spot Monday Challenge # 1 - Tie A Bow
Crafting with Christina Challenge # 20 - go Cricutless

Thank you for looking!  And as always...
