Art Fun Layout

Hi!  I'm back with another layout to share with you, yay!!!  I have had this monkey paper in my stash for a long time knowing that someday I would find the perfect use for it... and today is that day!  I have joined the sketch challenge at Pretty Little Studios for the first time, and I'm so happy I did!

Here is the sketch:

And what I made with it:

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Creative Imaginations Studio
Stamps: Verve (boarderline)
Ink: PTI and Memento
Letter Stickers: Fancy Pants Designs
Embellishments: Basic Grey
Buttons
Twine: The Twinery
Glue Dots

Technique Tip: I wanted to get that painting feel on my paper to match the picture, but I wanted the colors to match my papers.  Since I didn't want to use actual paint I hauled out my inks, stamped the colors on a clear stamping block, dipped my paintbrush in water and then into the ink making it a runny water paint.  I then flicked the bristles (just like you did as a kit) with my fingers to give me control of where my splats would go! Make sure you wipe your paint brush clean when you switch colors!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Bokeh what?

I am in LOVE... I may have said this before many many times, but this one is for real... Bokeh love that is!  What is Bokeh?  Besides being my new love, it is those little glimmer of lights shooting up across a picture...

I gathered my inspiration from a post by the amazingly talented Betsy Veldman as seen on her blog here... and since then I am head over heels so be on the look out for more of these Bokeh projects!  I purposely purchased the Paper Smooches stamp set Gently Seasoned just for the circles on it that I knew would work perfectly for imitating the Bokeh effect...

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Paper Smooches
Ink: Memento and PTI
Rhinestones:K & Co.

I made this card based on the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge and the PTI Make It Monday Challenge: Inked Background.  Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving me some love!!!

Verve Sympathy Card

Happy Saturday!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend thus far or the beginning of it at least!  I am stopping by to share a card I have made based on lots of Verve love.  Verve stamps are amazing!!!  I love their designs and the quality is top notch, so make sure to check them out after visiting me!

Now my card is made on the Verve Diva Dare and the Mojo Monday sketch, because they worked so amazingly well as far as I could see.  Let's look at my card and then I'll better explain the thought process behind this:

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Webster Pages
Stamps: Verve ( flower from Dream Big and sentiment from Boarderline)
Ink: PTI and Watermark
Clear Embossing Powder
Ribbon: V's Sweet Ideas
Rhinestones: Recollections
Martha Stewart Edge Punch

The Diva Dare was based on Laurie's and Maureen's Blogs and how to mix their two styles together.  When I looked at both blogs I noticed a lot of circles on Laurie's cards, usually with the sentiment stamped on them, and something that really jumped out at me on Maureen's blog is that most of her projects include 3 clear rhinestones placed close to the sentiments.  Both of their works are amazing so encourage you to visit their pages as well!

Thanks for visiting me and leaving me some love!!!
Happy Crafting and enjoy your weekend!

Mama Elephant... This Is How We Do It

You know after reading this title you are totally singing the song! hehehe!  And we are live with Day 3: Mama Elephant Explosion on my blog... Here is my third take of  Mama Elephant's sketch Challenge:

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Mama Elephant
Watermark Ink Pad: Versamark
Dye Ink: PTI
Distress Ink: Ranger
Flair: Paper Play Studios
Chalk: Pebbles Inc.

Fun little technique:  This stamp set comes with 3 balloon images: one completely open, one completely filled in, and one with polka dots.  For this card I used the open image first and make my pattern.  I then took the filled in balloon image and stamped it over top of the opened images with my watermark ink pad.  I colored in my balloons with various chalk colors, and voila!  I love using chalk because you don't have to be so precise with it.

Thanks for stopping by and be on the look out for Day 4!

IBS Challenge - 2nd post of the day

Hi!  I'm squeezing in one more post for today... I was really intrigued by the wed. tutorial on the Inspired By Stamping this past week and just had to take part in the challenge.  The tutorial showed a kissing technique, but not the one I normally think of.  Instead you are kissing the stamp to an embossing folder and then running it through, so here is my try at this technique...

Supplies Used:
Kraft
Stamps: Inspired By Stamping (butterflies, circle frame and sentiment), Hero Arts (wood-grain background)
Embossing Folder
Ink: PTI
Rhinestones: K & Co.
Ribbon: Michaels
Foam Squares: Therm-o-web
Glossy Accent

Even though it didn't turn out like I thought it would, I still really like the result and I definitely see myself trying this again with various stamps and embossing folder! I love when you find new ways to stretch your old products!

Happy Crafting!
Lisa

Mama Elephant Explosion... on my blog... duh!

Warning:  The next couple of days will be devoted to Mama Elephant Stamps and challenge... Why? Because they freaking rock my world and I would give anything to get to work with more of them... so I'm going to keep trying, trying............... and then trying again to show you all of the amazing ways Mama Elephant Stamps will rock your world ( I'm serious... we're talking rays of sunshine from the heavens and heavy guitar solo whisking you away when you feast your eyes on them).  With that said welcome to Day 1: Mama Elephant's March Sketch Challenge...

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Mama Elephant (Sentiment), PS (little hearts)
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Blending Tool
Sequins
Stapler: Tim Holtz
Glossy Accents

I used an old scrap from a heart I had used back in February and turned it into a mask to create the lovely big heart on here.  Another fun technique I used was dripping water from my finger onto the distress ink, I just love the unique look it adds to any project.  Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for Day 2 with Mamma Elephant Fun!

New Challenge at V's Sweet Ideas

Hello and welcome to this months challenge at V's Sweet Ideas!!! yay!!!  First huge thank you to the large amount of players in last months challenge there were so many awesome entries!  This month's challenge is: Man Themed...

Now onto my take for this challenge:

We are proud to be sponsored by Bugaboo stamps
Here is a little information on Bugaboo's History:
As if raising five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of paper crafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago. Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing!  From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects.  Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!
If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps at  Totally
Stampalicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT  for weekly challenges at Catch the Bug!
